Okay. Here's a Pontiac I've owned.. Actually, I've owned a couple.. A 1988 Pontiac Firebird Formula in white with t-tops and a 305.. I ate-up a lot of 5.0 Mustangs back then.. I'd still love to get my hands on an LS1 TA in the future.. What about you? What have you owned? Have any pictures?

I know a guy with a Turbo Trans Am, and it is a beautiful blue. Maybe he will jump in here?

I know the 301 Turbo gets no respect, some even call it the rodney dangerfield of engines....

But mine ran 14.21@97.3 mph. With a 4030 lb car! And only 3.08's and a THM350.

It would take you an built LT1 or a stock LS1 to beat me with a 4th gen T/A. And by then I would have my 301 running 12's.....

My mod list plans were 3.73's, THM200 4R, 4 Wheel disc and go to Car Crafts RSE competition....

And yes, my Avatar is a near idential twin to my 80 TTA, only mine has the turbo hood

If you ever saw the inside of a 301 heads and crank you would just walk away!

Here is the chronicle of my T/A restoration. It's the whole story of the 2 times I have owned it really... long story but interesting.

'77 Trans Am, numbers match, black on black. Nothing special, needs work, but not as much as some I've seen. Basically rust free though there's a few spots that need attention. Some damage to the paint. Engine runs smooth. Needs interior work (dash, carpet, package tray, seat covers, etc).

Is this one a bandit T/A? What differentiated the Bandit cars?

Officially, there was never a "Bandit" edition T/A, to my knowledge. All of them were the Special Edition T/A's which had particular styling cues such as gold painted grilles (instead of black), a gold instrument panel, center caps, shift knob, etc. That's one reason there's a lot of clones out there, since you can order most of what you need to do it from the repro houses.

And no, it's not a Bandit...just a garden-variety 6.6 (400) equipped '77 T/A. I'm thinking of a black-and-silver scheme for it, to make it different from the dime-a-dozen black-and-gold T/A's out there. A bit more work on the steering and wiring, and she's a driver again! Then bodywork and paint, and a new interior, and some serious engine detailing (it runs fine but does have an exhaust leak).

This is my first bird. I have usually been an import fella, but i've always wanted a muscle car and her it is. A 1987 firebird. I has a weak v6 but I am definetly changing it to a v8 (305 or 350).

I just bought my '79 Esprit, white with T-Tops... it looks like a mess right now because it was in a minor accident (the right side of the nose cone and control arm were about the only things affected majorly), but eh, I'm going to fix it up real soon.

To 1 bad 77,
First let me say your story touched me...Your were so lucky to have lost your love and found it..........I had many dreams of finding some of my past cars so I know where you are comming from....She is beautiful car, and thank you for sharing.I always enjoy hearing gearhead storys........
The only question is maybe, just maybe, the reason you never lost a race is hummmmmmmmmm you are a cop.... I all my racing years I've learned a few things like dont hit the brakes at 130 mph...... And cops always win..........
Enjoy........Darron
