My husband is not here if he were I could tell u graffiti62 October 19th, 2007, 03:21 PM If you can reach up in there with the car jacked up, grab hold of one of the shafts and give it a couple of hard twists back and forth. If it feels solid, you're all right--if it feels kinda shaky and there's some play in it, then you've got bad ball joints. One word of advice is if you do need new joints, DO NOT do what mechanics call a "quick boot." A quick boot is nothing more than just replacing the parts--in order for CV and universal joints to last properly, you've gotta pack grease in all the bearings and anywhere there will be friction. This will make things last a LOT longer. |
