...Pontiac Sunfire? I really want to learn how to change my own oil. I know I am getting owned by the place I go now. From what I understand its pretty easy. Does anybody know how to change the oil on a 1998 sunfire. Any chance you can include detailed directions either from experience or a website. The most I have ever done to my car is add washer fluid so I really know nothing so the more idiot proof the better. Thanks very much

Lift the car enough to get under. Youll see a dark pan. ( oil pan ) and a big bolt... Unscrew that bolt with a pan under the oil pan to catch the waste. Youll see a white round filter on the right side of the car youll need an oil filter wrench, take that off. Your car is a 2.2 liter so youll need a little under 3 liters of oil. Replace the filter first, then put your new oil in. Remember to put the bolt back in the pan first. Then your done...

I did a oil change on my 98 sunfire, the oil filter is a bitch to remove as its ticked way up in the back of the engine by the fire wall, a oil wrech wont fit just use your hand wraped with a cloth for added grip.

I added a full 4.4 liter jug of oil is that too much and have I done any damage to the motor?
