haha, it shouldnt unless something is seriously wrong with it like your '87 did.....

I bet money the 87 would smoke really bad after it sat for a while, huh?

yes i did. I told you there is nothing to worry about "smoking" wise, unless something is wrong/hurt/broken internally on the motor.

Simply put, the old TPI motors were notorious for leaky valve seals, which led to that "smoke" you had to deal with. It's a whole nother world with a Ls1. the Ls1's are an EXTREMLY efficient and clean burning motor. Also, they are pretty durable considering it's all aluminum w/ a nylon intake!

I'm sorry, i thought i answered it clearly, i hope that helps a little

If it was smokin @ 29,000??? And I thought I was a engine killer. I put one in a S10 Blazer that smoked at startup about 70000 and I was brutal. Ya the Ls1 is a whole different animal.

what probley caused that smokeing form a mechanics point of view was your valve stem seals.symptoms are a puff of blue smoke on start up. its not to hard to replace them if you have the right tools. but if you get a 1999 transam it should not do that.its a newer car and in better condition. prime cause of valve stem seal failure is age and heat
