So I just bought a 1980 Formula with t-tops and I absolutly love it. I have a few questions tho maybe you guys can help me. First off, the seller and the badge under my tach says I have an RTS suspension. Is that a special preformance option.. or is stock for the formulas ? Also, Im not exactly sure what type of engine it has. I believe it's a factory 305 ( seller said something about it being a high output 305 whatever that is? )If it is a high output..whats the difference, and do all formulas have it ? and lastly it says "body by fisher" on my scuff guard. Is that a special option or is it just there because of my t-tops? anyways it's great to be a pontiac owner now. headers, flowmasters, and a preformance carb are in the near future as well.

rts stands for radial tuned suspension which was introduced around 74 on all firebirds. fisher body is the body builder which is on all f-body cars from 70-81

Check your VIN Tag! If it has W87 then your car is a Transam and not a formula, formula's did'nt usualy come with T-Tops...! if the VIN tag has U87 then it is a formula and the T-Tops may have been an option. If your vehicle is a 1980 it has the 301 motor, again, check the VIN for the year of manufacture (eighth digit for 1980 is the engine code, W or Y for the 301)

And if it is a California car you can bet that none of the unregistered user said is true. Califonia cars came with the shevy 305 engines.
