My 90 Sunbird starts great and runs great until it gets hot and i come to an intersection or exit a highway. When the engine idles down, it chokes out and stalls. It will not start again until it cools down after about 10 to 15 min.
First, make sure the electric cooling fan is working. if it is check below........
Disconnect the blue plug in front of the transmission near where the cooling lines go into the trans ( square plug/passenger side/ under the hood) its for the convertor lockup solenoid.
The solenoid goes bad and the convertor gets locked up all the time and makes the engine stall at a light or run hot. ( like not pushing the clutch on a manual trans in when you come to a stop)
Does not effect the trans at all, you just lose some mpg.
Common problem on the TH125C trans.( see it with the foil on the left side of the pic- circled)
